It takes a village to raise a child is an African proverb that means an entire community or village holds the responsibility to raise a child even when they are not theirs or related to them. This proverb reflects us as who we are and how we should be living as Africans.
Africans are known for the love, humility, spirit of ubuntu and for being a people who love to give and share. Just because we have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior doesn't in any way mean we have lost or have to lose our culture and characters as Africans. As a matter of fact, the bible does encourage the Spirit of ubuntu. We have forgotten who we are and have adopted certain selfish behaviors.
People today no longer care about certain things as long as it doesn't affect them. Parents are fine with seeing their neighbour's child drowning in alcohol and drugs as long as his children are fine. The village and community have and are neglecting their duties in raising children.
Ezekiel 22 v 30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.
Today the Lord is still looking for that man who will stand in the gap for this world but there is no one. Not that people are not praying no they are but the prayers are now selfish. There is literally no one willing to stand in the gap, build a wall and fast and pray for this nation and continent.
We have become like hypocrites who only care about their own well beings and forgetting the teachings of the Lord. When God finds a man who is willing to stand in the gap and unselfishly pray for the land the Lord is going to heal the land.
