Food is highly important to us as humans and is a necessary aspect of our lives. God created the foods that Adam and Eve would eat even before He created man. As a result, we can conclude that eating food is not sinful. In truth, God told Adam what was available for him to eat as part of his instruction to him. “And the LORD God instructed the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:” Genesis 2:16.
Nonetheless, man's survival is not completely dependent on food. When the tempter came to dangle the forbidden fruit in front of Adam and Eve, they didn't realize it and fell headlong for it. It's no surprise that the Lord led the Israelites through the wilderness for forty years to teach them that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from His lips. This session is so important that it constituted the basis for Jesus' first test in the wilderness of temptation (Matthew 4:1-4). All of this happened in order for us to learn from it.
Surprisingly, eating can lead to a man's demise, even if it appears to be simple and ordinary. Esau, who sold his birthright for a plate of pottage, is a wonderful example of this (Genesis 25:29-34). As a result, when the Holy Spirit speaks to us about food, we must open our ears to hear what He has to say. He declares in Deuteronomy 8:3 that man cannot live just on bread.
To put it another way, bread is one of the things that man requires to exist, but it must be obtained through a method that follows the pattern of God's word and fits its requirements. This is why, when the devil urged Jesus Christ to convert stone into bread, he refused (Luke 4:3-4). He demonstrated that food is good, but it must be prepared according to God's instructions and not by the devil's recommendations.
Thank God, the Second Adam was able to correct the original Adam's errors. Many Christians have lost their faith because they ignored the Lord's warning in Matthew 6:25: "Therefore I say unto you, Take no consideration for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on." Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”
Of course, the Lord's inquiry has an obvious answer: life is more than meat. This is why eating death food is dumb, because the purpose of food is to keep us alive in the first place. We can't survive on bread alone. We must always be on the lookout for God's perfect will and avoid anything that would lead us to hell. In Jesus' name, may the Lord provide you knowledge.
Prayer: Father, please give me the understanding of your word, so that I may live by it and be blessed.
