Once you get this right; Don't bother about miracles and signs
Apostle Paul writing about the dangers of focusing on miracles and signs writes, "the coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." 2Thessalonians 2.; 9-10.
While miracles, signs and wonders are great, they are often deceitful and misleading. Therefore, Jesus did not base his ministry solely on miracles.
In the day of Jesus Christ on earth, many people followed him only because of signs and wonders they saw. The religious leaders of that time had problems believing him because they believed they were custodians of spiritual knowledge. Hence, no one could come anywhere to present anything greater.
However, Jesus corrected this notion when the religious leaders came to tempt him asking for a sign that will convince them of Jesus' identity and originality. But Jesus refused to play their game rather than a sign he pointed them to the word that he preached.
The great psalmist and King of Isreal, David wrote in the scriptures the following statement that indicates two priorities of God;
'I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.' Psalm 138:2
Given the above statement, God's word and his name are the two things he places top premium on beyond any other things for us to love by especially in these days of fake miracles.
As Jesus address the tempting demands of the religious leaders, he pointed attention to the word that was preached to the people of Nineveh and the word of wisdom that Solomon displayed in his time.
If we follow miracles only, we will fall prey of false prophets, rather we must weigh signs and wonders against the infallible Word of God.
