Prayer: Lord, Empower The Church To Be Light To The World And To Stand Against Every Form Of Evil

"They both are an abomination to the Lord: he who justifieth the wicked and he who condemneth the just." Proverbs 17:15

One of the many characteristics that are slowly fading from the Church today is the ability to stand up to evil. The aphorism "If you can't beat them, join them" has gained a lot of traction. In Jesus' great name, may God help His Church.

God despises both those who promote iniquity and those who unbraid the just, according to our memory verse for today. We will undoubtedly reject and vote against the just if we refuse to condemn evil and wickedness. After praising their generous deeds, faith, and patience, Jesus Christ admonished the Church in Thyatira against condoning sexual immorality, as shown by the woman Jezebel, who claimed to be a prophetess and seduced innocent souls in the Church. We must not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, according to Apostle Paul (2 Corinthians 6:14).

God's call to us now is to fight evil within the Church first, before taking the fight to the gates of hell. Unfortunately, many Christians, especially in the Church, support or excuse sinful behavior. They are afraid of being criticized by the world if they condemn sinful behaviors.

This is why you cannot preach against homosexuality in some countries; if you do, you risk being imprisoned, and your other Christian brethren or pastor would criticize you as a fool for not being discreet enough! Similarly, violence against women, including rape, is widespread in various societies, but little is being done to curb it.

One of my children was once a member of a panel that was interviewing pastors for advancement. One applicant in particular had been adamant about his opinions regarding ungodly standards as found in the Bible, confidently challenging worldly perspectives. When this godly candidate left, another panel member exclaimed, "If this is what that pastor is clinging to, he won't have ten people in his congregation!"

In some parts of Christendom, the truth has been squandered. Rise up, beloved, and let us fight evil together.
