People who are good are wise. They see that doing good to others will bring them closer to God, so they continue to do good. They also understand that, according to Proverbs 11:17, when you are merciful to others, you are being merciful to yourself, and when you are cruel to them, you are being cruel to yourself. It's simple: you can't fool God; whatever you sow is what you'll get (Galatians 6:7).
Our God is a kind and merciful God. He is good to even those who do evil (Matthew 5:45), therefore learn from Him if you want to be good. In Psalm 119:68, David says:
“Because you are good and do good, teach me your statutes.”
Anointing is one of the ways that God assists us in doing good. Because of this anointing, Jesus began to accomplish wonderful things in Acts 10:38:
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and he went about doing good and healing those who were plagued by the demon, because God was with him.”
When you are given the opportunity to do something nice for someone and you do not take advantage of it, you are inviting God's anger to descend upon you because you have squandered His anointing. “Withhold not good from those to whom it is due, when it is within thy power to do it,” reads Proverbs 3:27.
This is why, if I see someone in need of prayer and my protocol officers are preventing them from contacting me, I intervene and ask them to bring the individual to me. I don't want to irritate my Daddy by withholding what I know He has given me to help others. Do you realize that on the final day, we will be evaluated not just on how good we have been to others, but also on how good we have been to ourselves? (Matthew 25:31-46) According to 3 John 1:11:
“Beloved, do not follow what is bad, but rather what is good. “Whoever does good is of God, but whoever does evil has not seen God.”
To put it another way, if you claim to be a child of God, you must always do good. Have you been doing well lately?
