Verse of the week. Matthew 10:16

My dad a man who grew up in a traditional family where almost every member was an initiated “sangoma” or traditional loved this verse, Matthew 10:16.

Let me just say my father was a sangoma, he knew the ins and out, the terms and conditions and the perks that come with being a traditional healer. Unfortunately for me, he didn’t live long enough to tell me the story of how he found the Lord and got saved but all I can tell you is that at the time of his death he was at the college of theology, studying to be a pastor.

Matthew 10:16, Behold, I send you forth as sheep amid wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. He would say to us Christianity is the religion of love, humbleness and meekness, but in all your humbleness do you not let people take advantage of it.

The Lord knew how brutal the world is and was . People will always look to step on your toes, provoke you and expect you not to react because because you’re a Christian. You are sheep that are living, working among wolves. some of the wolves are your brothers, sisters, partners and even parents. For you to survive the onslaught you have to be very wise like a serpent . Be aware of your surroundings , know who walks with you and who walks against you, understand that some are laughing with you, yet they are plotting your downfall behind your back.

While you are being wise, being clever, being aware do not forget to be gentle and harmless like a dove. We are human and yet we act on emotions and that is exactly what the people of this world want you to do. They will put you in situations where human beings fail and start cursing and retaliating. Those are the situations where you to remember to gentle as a dove, so that people will see the God in you.

Be Wise as serpents and remain as Humble as doves.
