Zimbabweans will be going to the Presidential polls in 2023 for the second time after the era of the late President Robert Mugabe . There have been a number of predictions from different denominations , including the Christian sector . Although there have been predictions and speculations regarding the harmonized 2023 elections , Bishop Mutendi issued a message to the President of Zimbabwe, Mr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa during the church service.
In accordance with the report , the leader of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC), Bishop Nehemia Mutendi pulled a shocker when he issued a message to the President. He reportedly issued a message which called upon President Emmerson Mnangagwa to promote peaceful elections which would be fair .
The President Mnangagwa was part of a ZCC service at Defe Dopota in Gokwe when the message was issued to him . Thousands of congregants had gathered to commemorate the death of the founder of the church , Samuel Mutendi who died on the 20th of 1976.Others who attended the service included the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, the Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, some top government officials, the Zanu PF officials as well as 16 chiefs.
Bishop Mutendi used his sermon to urge the congregants and government officials to ensure that they maintained peace in Zimbabwe. As Zimbabweans will be heading to the polls , there is bound to be violence and disturbances before the elections .
The Bishop reportedly said that even though there could be trouble , there was need for the country to remain calm.He said that although the church would pray for the elections , the President of Zimbabwe had to be peaceful and play a fair game in the 2023 elections. The efforts of the President were appreciated by the Bishop who said that Mr Mnangagwa was trying hard to uplift the lives of people despite the economic challenges.
It is great that the Bishop managed to send a strong message to President Mnangagwa regarding the 2023 Elections. The elections must be conducted in a free and fair manner .
