OPINION- Why We Should Care For Others

The Apostle Paul tells us about a critical component of true discipleship in today's Church in today's Scripture Reading: the ministry of caring. Despite the enormous anointing with which Apostle Paul served to both Jews and Gentiles, he was meticulous in his care ministry.

"Hospitality is important," Jesus Christ said, referring to the relevance of hospitality.

“Verily I say unto you, whosoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name because you belong to Christ, he shall not forfeit his reward.” (Matthew 9:41)

In Matthew 25:35-40, he says:

“......For I was hungry, and you fed me; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was an outsider, and you welcomed me: I was naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you came to see me; I was incarcerated, and you paid me a visit. "Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee?" the righteous will ask. or was it that you were thirsty and I offered you something to drink? When did we first notice you and invite you in as a stranger? Have you ever been both nude and clothed? Or when we came to see you when you were unwell or in prison? "Verily, I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me," the King would respond.

The Bible affirms this in James 2:15-16:

“What good does it do if a brother or sister is naked and without daily food, and one of you says to them, Depart in peace, be warmed and filled, despite the fact that ye do not give them the necessities of life?”

Children of God are required to participate in the ministry of care, as well as any other ministry to which they may be called. As a result, we have a complete and perfect calling. Even while we preach the gospel to them, we must always remember the poor among us (James 2:15-16). Indeed, many people have claimed that caring for the destitute has helped them to win souls.

Are you, as a Christian, socially responsible, as Isaiah 58:6-7 demands?
