12 Little Known Laws of Karma (That Will Change your Life)

What exactly is Karma? The Sanskrit word for action is karma. It is analogous to Newton's law that "every action must have a reaction." When we think, speak, or act, we activate a force that will respond in kind. This returning force can be modified, changed, or suspended, but most people will be unable to eliminate it.

This law of cause and effect is entirely for the purpose of education or learning, not punishment.

A person cannot avoid the consequences of his actions, but he will suffer only if he has created the conditions for his own suffering. Ignorance of the law, whether man-made or universal, is not an excuse.

Here's what you need to know about karmic laws to stop being afraid and start feeling empowered in the worlds of karma and reincarnation.

1. The Great Law

"What you sow is what you will reap." This is also referred to as the "Law of Cause and Effect."

If we want happiness, peace, love, and friendship, we must first BE happy, peaceful, loving, and true friends.

Whatever we send out into the Universe comes back to us.

2. The Creation Law

Life does not happen by chance. It requires our involvement.

Inside and out, we are one with the Universe.

Whatever surrounds us reveals information about our inner state.

Be yourself, and surround yourself with the things you want in your life.

3. The Humility Law

If you refuse to accept something, you can't change it.

If all we see is an enemy or someone with a negative character trait, then we are not focused on a higher level of existence.

4. The Growth Law

"You are everywhere you go."

We must change, not the people, places, or things around us, if we are to grow in Spirit.

The only given in our lives is ourselves, and that is the only factor over which we have control.

When we change who and what we are in our hearts, our lives change as well.

5. The Responsibility Law

Whenever something goes wrong in my life, there is something wrong with me.

This is a Universal Truth: we reflect what surrounds us, and what surrounds us reflects us.

We must accept responsibility for what is going on in our lives.

6. The Connection Law

Even if something we do appears insignificant, it is critical that it is completed because everything in the Universe is interconnected.

Each step leads to the next, and so on and so forth.

Someone must do the preliminary work in order for a job to be completed.

Neither the first nor the last step is more important than the others because they are both required to complete the task.

The past, present, and future are all intertwined.

7. The Focusing Law

You can't think about two things at once.

As a result, when we focus on Spiritual Values, we are unable to have lower thoughts such as greed or anger.

8. The Law of Hospitality and Giving

If you believe something to be true, you will be called upon to demonstrate that truth at some point in your life.

This is where we put what we BELIEVE we have learned into PRACTICE.

9. The Law of the Here and Now

Looking back to examine what was or forward to worry about what will be keeps us from being fully present in the here and now.

We can't have new thoughts, patterns of behavior, or dreams because we're stuck in the past.

10. The Tenth Law of Change

History repeats itself until we learn the lessons necessary to change our course.

11. The Law of Patience and Reward

All rewards require initial toil.

Rewards of lasting value require patient and persistent toil.

True joy comes from doing what we're suppose to be doing, and knowing that the reward will come in its own time.

12. The Law of Significance and Inspiration

You get back from something whatever you have put into it.

The true value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put into it.

Every personal contribution is also a contribution to the Whole.

Lackluster contributions have no impact on the Whole, nor do they work to diminish it.

Loving contributions bring life to, and inspire, the Whole.
