PRAYER: Lord, Help Me To Live A Life That Is Pleasing To You

What did Jesus say at 9 o'clock on the ninth hour of the day? As a response to this question, "My God, my God, why have you left me?" In the book of Matthew, chapter 27, verse 46, Jesus says:

The foregoing passage of Scripture concisely describes the pain of spiritual separation. First time and only time that the Father turned His face away from Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary was when he bore the sins of the entire world. It is my hope that all those who are spiritually estranged from God get awakened to the plight they face and the torture they will face in eternity if they do not reconcile with God.

Sin is the cause of spiritual alienation. This can be explained by the fact that the Almighty God cannot see or deal with sin (Habakkuk 1:13). Sin separates you from God on a spiritual level. Genesis chapter 3 tells the tale of the first couple's spiritual separation. When they sinned, they were stripped of their humanity. They were ashamed to show up when God tried to reach out to them because they felt so worthless. Remorse and self-condemnation overwhelmed their hearts. To God be the glory, a remedy for spiritual separation has been provided, namely the shed blood of Jesus (Colossians 1:19-22). There remains, however, a spiritual separation that will never be repaired; this is referred to in the Bible as the second death. According to today's remembering passage, the frightened are the first to share in this terrible experience. Proverbs 29:25 states:

"Fear of man is a snare, but confidence in the LORD keeps one from falling into it."

Saul, Israel's first king, was ousted because of his fear of men. Because of their fear of men, many leaders have fallen from grace, as King Saul. Those who do not believe are the next group to be mentioned. Because they lacked faith in God, Adam and Eve disobeyed. As well as witchcraft and sorcery are some of the other activities that lead to eternal separation. Friend, being spiritually estranged from God produces a lot of heartache and disappointment since you can't accomplish anything without Him (John 15:5). Repentance and the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, can bring you back into right relationship with God if you're far from Him spiritually right now. These guidelines will keep you out of the Lake of Fire, where eternal separation from God is a punishment.
