What Kind Of Growth Do You Want? Read And Make Your Choice

"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ" Ephesians 4:15

You will not go hungry or thirsty if you are a sheep in the fold of the Great Shepherd. You will not be thirsty beyond them as He brings you beside the silent, calm streams. This is another way of suggesting that you will be able to quench your thirst. This is what the Lord said in Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, because they shall be fed." Hunger and thirst are part of the growth mechanisms that have been encoded into the human body.

The quality or type of growth you experience will be determined by how you respond to these urges. Long-term hunger and reluctance to eat both result in death. Similarly, while just eating a certain type of food, some people have a typical development patterns due to a lack of nutrients, vitamins, fatty acids, and other components that their bodies require. This is why youngsters who are solely fed a carbohydrate-based diet develop large heads and bellies, as well as rickety legs and hands, a condition known as 'kwashiorkor.' All of the body's demands must be met in order for growth to be balanced and progressive.

The effect of food on physical growth that has been witnessed in the natural world also applies to spiritual growth. Because of the type of the food being fed and the attitude of Christians toward spiritual nourishment, spiritual growth in the Body of Christ is perverted today. In the Kingdom of God, there are many stages of development. According to 1 Peter 2:2, infant Christians should be provided milk in order to grow normally. Those who claim to have been saved for five, ten, or even more years still insist on being served milk. What kind of growth would ensue if a 10-year-old child still wanted to be breastfed?

Furthermore, there are numerous incorrect ideas being preached now over the airwaves and in churches. What type of development would such doctrines bring to people who follow them? Furthermore, many people who are being given the pure, unadulterated truth of God's word do not have the time to process it. What kind of spiritual growth do you think such a spiritual eating pattern will produce? When you don't grow as fast as you should, you become a problem for yourself and others. How are you progressing right now? What are you consuming? How frequently do you read God's word?
