PRAYER: Lord, Help Me To Control My Words At All Times Despite The Emotions

When we're overcome by our emotions, we could say or do things we don't really mean. Since she had to undergo such agony with the birth of her final child, Rachel called him a "child of sorrow" in today's Bible reading. Thank goodness Jacob went under a different name. It's important to exercise extreme caution while you're feeling any of these emotions since what you say could have long-term ramifications. Esau sold his birthright to his brother because he was hungry. Be cautious when you're in a desperate situation so that you don't regret the transactions you make.

Samson exposed his abilities to Delilah because he was madly in love with her. The devil is watching you, even if you're not aware of it. Regardless matter how you're feeling, he's keeping track of it. When he realizes that you talk without restraint, he'll set you up to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Jephthah vowed to the Lord, "If thou shall deliver the children of Ammon into my hands without fail, then whatever comes forth from the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon shall be the Lord's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering," according to Judges 11:30-31, which ends the story.

To allay Jephthah's fear and trepidation, the devil suggested that upon his return, he make an unthinking vow to give God everything he had seen. When Jephthah heard the devil's advice, he made the vow without hesitation. The devil, on the other hand, made a point of greeting his lone daughter as soon as he arrived back to his house. He should have pondered the commitment a little longer before he said it!

Before you talk, take a moment to consider what you're saying. If you're at a family gathering and have the chance to speak with a relative, use caution when choosing your remarks. Be careful not to believe that all of your family members are your friends because Joseph was sold by his blood brothers because of the dreams he shared with them (Genesis 37:5-28). I'll be there for you.
