“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising; you discern my thoughts from afar… ”Psalm 139: 1-6
We always hide from people. We put on masks. We are pretending. We humans, please. Why? We want to be loved. We want to be our own. We are afraid of the great R-Rejection. We thought that if they had known me, they would not have liked me.
The good news is that God knows everything about us, and He still loves us! David writes, "O LORD, thou hast searched me (thou knowest me), and thou knowest me… Thou knowest all my paths," (Psalm 139: 1-3 Amplified). Every moment God knows where we are and what we need and lovingly cares for us. Why is it so hard to believe?
We equate love with something that makes us feel good. If my life is good, then God loves me. If my life isn't bad, He doesn't love me. We always play, this “You love me; He doesn't like me ”game.
We are communicating with God. I will do for you what you have done for me. When our expectations are not met, we conclude that God does not love us.
The truth is: God is always good, and he always loves me.
The greatest proof of God's love for us is Jesus. He died so that we might live - to live here forever and ever.
God also shows his love in practical ways. You plant "I love you" articles every day. Can you get another one? Here are a few of my:
Thanks to the pattern made by the sun in the afternoon on the wall.
Thank you, for the bright pink flowers on my cactus plant;
Thank you for the way the wind plays in the trees…
As we give thanks for these things, we open the door for God's salvation to come in (Psalm 50:23). The
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for you always love me and are always with me.
