You probably must have read stories or heard of people who lived under rocks or caves for shelter. But do you know that there are people whose abode are still in the rock?
In this article, you will reading about a 136 year old priestess called Iya Orisa, whose house and shrine is right under a rock.
Let's Know About The Rock Where She Lives:
Olumo rock is a rock located in South-western Nigeria. It served as a natural fortress for the people of the tribe during inter-tribal war in the 19th century.
About The Priestess Of The Rock:
Chief Mrs Sinatu Aduke Sanni also called Iya Orisa Olumo (which means Mother goddess of the Olumo rock) is an old woman of 136 years old. She was said to be born in 1885. As a priestess, she helps the barren, job seekers and ailing people. Not many people know about this priestess who offers prayers and divinations for many from atop the rocks. Her shrine is also within the environs of the rocks.
This priestess lives within the hollows of the rock, but it has a carved out staircase which aids climbing. I heard she warmly welcomed visitors and tourists.
Whenever you visit Nigeria, don't forget to visit the priestess.
