The Zulu prime minister made it clear that King Misizulu is the rightful inheritor of AmaZulu Kingship.
He said this to the delegation of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma which is tasked to solve the persistent infighting in the Zulu royal family over the throne. This was the first formal meeting between King Misizulu's faction and government mediators.
The team which is led by Willies Mchunu, the former MEC of KwaZulu-Natal met with the Royal Family members who are agreeing that Prince Misuzulu is the rightful heir on Thursday. The meeting took place at KwaKhangelamankengane palace. Elderly people who were there were Queen Mavis Zungu, the wife of the late Cyril Bhekuzuaka Solomon, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Prince Philemon from KwaFihlinqindi, and also many other Royal Family members attended the meeting. In the meeting, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi declared that there shouldn't be any infighting regarding the throne and who should be coronated.
The Prince said Queen regent Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu stated on her last will that Prince Misuzulu should be the next Zulu King, but because there is a Royal family faction that does not agree with that, the throne has been vacant since. These rebels want Prince Simakade to be the next King. Prince Buthelezi told the team that should they have been no will, the Kingship was going to fall on Prince Misuzulu after the death of the Queen.
Even if the late King and Queen did not leave a will behind the truth was going to remain as to who is the heir to the Kingdom. The whole ZulZulution knows that before the late King married Princess Mantfombi, Shenge was sent as the representative of the Royal family. The Zulu nation knew that the Princess and the daughter of King Sobhuza II was going to be his bride and the Zulu nation paid her amalobolo for her as the great wife of the late King. Prince Buthelezi did as he was told by the Late King and he announced to the chiefs of the Zulus and the Zulu nation at large.
As a nation, they understood what was happening, and knew well what their customs say as well as the Zulu culture. If the King chooses a wife and asks the nation to pay her bride price it means that that woman would be the mother of the nation, who gives birth to the inheritor of the throne.
In the same meeting, Prince Buthelezi expressed his grief about the government of KwaZulu-Natal meeting with the royal faction that opposes the coronation of King Misuzulu without his knowledge as the prime minister of the zulu nation. The contesting of the Kingship was passed over to the President to intervene as the government of KwaZulu-Natal tried and failed to solve the matter. The president passed the buck to Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to help in the matter of who is working with Mchunu. The team has met with the opposition before meeting with the Royal Family. The King was not present at the meeting after the government team asked that he does not attend as the matter contains the throne he is seating on.
