The former president's ally said, "Hayi shem, the political rand can do whatever it wants, but #RamaphosaMustGo."
Mzwanele Manyi, the Jacob Zuma Foundation's spokeswoman, reacted to the BusinessTech piece. "The rand would surely collapse if Ramaphosa is not re-elected ANC president," according to a commentary published by the BusinessTech daily.
This is happening now because the race for members of the African National Congress's National Executive Council and the top six has commenced, with the party planning to organize a national leadership election in December 2022. After learning that President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa may not be re-elected in December, BusinessTech economists are reacting.
"If Ramaphosa does not win re-election to the ANC leadership at the conclusion of this year's elective conference, the rand is expected to fall as foreign investors pull out."
