It has been confirmed that the African National Congress (ANC) and the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa will be taking introducing of the Basic Income Grant (BIG) into account this year, 2021.
On the 109th anniversary of the African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa said that thinking of introducing the Universal Basic Income Grant came when the emergency measures of the Covid-19 Coronavirus ended.
I'm sure many South Africans are aware that Coronavirus forced our government to make changes that will help citizens and for example the government made R300 rand increase to many permanent social grants and introduced the temporary R350 Grant to unemployed citizens.
The discussion of the viability and desirability of the Universal Basic Income Grant (BIG) is expected to resume this year, 2021, by the African National Congress (ANC) and Border Society.
On an article/document published last year, June 2020 by Bloomberg it confirmed that the Basic Income Grant (BIG) will made for people aged 19-59 and all qualifying recipients will be eligible to receive R500 monthly and it's also know that this grant can cost S.A about R197.8 billion every year.
The introduction of this grant will really help many unemployed South Africans and this grant will also help reduce poverty in our country.
