Sad news - another top official has resigned

Top of the National Prosecuting Authority's Investigating Directorate (ID), Advocate Hermione Cronje, has supposedly requested to empty her office before her term closes.

Public Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi affirmed the news to TimesLIVE, and said she upheld Cronje's solicitation to leave viable from March 2022.


Delegate NDPP Rabaji-Rasethaba would uphold Cronje during the change time frame, as they search for her substitution.


 "After a difficult initial beginning up stage, Adv Cronje will leave the ID all around situated to follow through on its significant command. I'm certain, given all the foundation that has been done, that its work will proceed unaffected, before long," Batohi was cited as saying.


Cronje was selected as top of the Investigating Directorate in the Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions by President Cyril Ramaphosa in May 2019.


The unit, situated in the workplace of Batohi, is entrusted with examining customary law offenses including extortion, fabrication, robbery and any offense including deceptive nature.


She was selected for a time of five years with impact from 15 May 2019.


From 1998 to 2012, she was utilized in different limits in the NPA – first as an associate to the primary National Director of Public Prosecutions; as establishing individual from the Asset Forfeiture Unit, and for a considerable length of time as provincial top of the Asset Forfeiture Unit in the Western Cape.
