Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the most detailed State of the Nation Address in recent years, on Thursday 12 Februray 2021. And this year SONA was the most historic one. Well, some people may wonder why this year SONA is considered to be the most historic one: the main reason why people consider their year SONA to be the most historic, is because since the dawn of democracy, the state of the nation address was delivered without red carpet, 21 gun salute, and military parade.
Since there was no red carpet, South African didn't get to witness prominent people walking on the red carpet while wearing their designed clothes. However, one thing ordinary people can celebrate is that this year SONA budget was slightly down, as compared to the previous years budgets.
As already alluded above, Cyril Ramaphosa talked about many things that the government is planning to do in the next coming years. However, Cyril Ramaphosa also mentioned something that I believe will make Julius Malema and the EFF to be less radical.
Here are some of the things Cyril Ramaphosa mentioned last night:
Cyril Ramaphosa mentioned that tge R350 grant have been extended for another three months. This grant came after the government implemented lockdown regulations, in an effort to curb the spread of the Corona Virus.
Cyril Ramaphosa again mentioned that in the coming days; another vaccine will be arriving in South Africa. By now almost everyone knows why it is important for the government to procure the vaccine.
Cyril Ramaphosa mentioned that the government will work around the clock to make sure that they deal with loadshedding.
Here is what Cyril Ramaphosa said:
Cyril Ramaphosa mentioned that the government will work expeditiously to address the highly contested issue " The redistribution of the land". Cyril Ramaphosa said process are in place to make sure that the issue of land reform is dealt with.
And this last point I believe will make Julius Malema and the EFF to be less radical. The reason I believe it will be Julius Malema to less radical it is because; he has been pushing the agenda of land for a very long time. And now that the government plans to finally address this issue: Julius Malema is more likely to become less radical about this issue. And that also implies the EFF will debate lesa about this issue, now that the processes are in place.
