OPINION| The winning and losing faction at the ANC's Rustenburg conference allegedly backed by Cyril

Both the winning faction and the losing faction at the ANC's Rustenburg conference backed (undoubtedly and presumably also funded by) president Cyril Ramaphosa. However, although the new elites are former public officials I do not detect any appetite for radical economic transformation in the whole group, the ANC has been thoroughly eviscerated of all ideological and intellectual content. People just need to know that politic is a game to perform lies, corruption, false promises and money powers that is the reason politics becomes a dirty game at the end

It is interesting that the winners beat the slate of the premier and MECs one would have expected those who control state resources to win which implies that the winners had their own independent means, deeper pockets voters saw on them better and more durable cash-cows it is not due to superior policy perspectives but patronage, that they won. Anyway, some of the MECs that lost the vote had a poor service delivery track record one of them is a former mayor who destroyed Mafikeng municipality, she should be dropped from the cabinetAlthough RET faction is being weakened outside KZN other factions like Adiwele and Taliban pose serious economic and political instability because of their fondness with RET, and also acknowledge the schemes within ANC youth league Supra Mahumapelo allegedly personified the RET he could not sell the RET brand with its kingpins Zuma and Magashule becoming less able to dispense patronage, the group has lost ground it seems the money bags didn't back Supra, without big money you cannot win and the survival chances were too slim for him

But again it is all about self with all these laders because only agenda is in their minds now they are going to position each other to steal and give some of their fellows jobs as pay back to supporting them for office, serving the community is not in their agenda
