After discovering explosives in his hands, police in Hopetown successfully arrested a 48-year-old man at his home near Orania.
According to a Saps news report, police received intelligence information about a man in possession of dangerous explosives from an anonymous source today, December 1st, 2021. The information led them to a house near Orania where the alleged suspect resides.
Police raided the property and discovered homemade explosives and illegal ammunition. The 48-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with illegal ammunition and explosives possession.
He'll be in court soon to face the charges, according to the Hopetown Magistrates' court.
Unauthorized explosives are commonly used in ATM explosions and Cash in Transit heists, and police congratulate the informer who provided information that led to the suspect's arrest.
