Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka has been asked by the ATM political party to explain the meaning of her secret deal with president Cyril Ramaphosa. The political party noted that the deputy Public Protector must protect the interest of the people of South Africa and not the interest of one single person, president Cyril Ramaphosa. This was stated in a communiqué issue by the opposition party, urging that deputy Public Protector to explain herself. The party noted that she was supposed to continue from in the absence of Busisiwe Mkhwebane i.e. continued from where the suspended Public Protector stopped. They noted that as it stands now, the deputy Public Protector is not doing it that way. The African Transformation Movement (ATM) said that before the deputy Public Protector made a call to override the EMEA, she was supposed to tell them as members of the National Assembly. This is the position of the ATM.
The ATM said that they want the Deputy Public Protector to explain herself. Furthermore, the party opined that president Cyril Ramaphosa is now attending different meetings outside the country just to avoid answering the 31 questions that were sent to him. They noted that the president is avoiding the issue at stake and concentrating on the important issue, which is to answer the questions. They urged the Deputy Public Protector to urged president Cyril Ramaphosa to immediately answer the questions given to him by the suspended Public Protector. Furthermore, they further made it clear that they are disappointed that the president is not answering questions. Furthermore, they further said that they are committed to making the president account for his actions.
