At the North West Conference of the African National Congress (ANC) over the past weekend, the election of the province's new top leaders was eventually completed. However, the process was plagued by many delays.
In the wee hours of Monday morning, Nono Maloyi was chosen to take over as the leader of the ANC's provincial branch.
Maloyi won the election with 76 more votes than his opponent, Bushi Maepa.
Maloyi used the opportunity to address the conference and deliver a speech in which he condemned political infighting inside the organization.
Even though he is facing allegations of culpable homicide, Maloyi was still elected as the chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC).
In 2018, Maloyi was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another. At the time, he was still serving as a Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) of Human Settlements.
On the portion of the N12 that runs between Klerksdorp and Stilfontein, it is asserted that he was at an extremely high pace.
