The South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has confirmed and announced that the R350 temporary Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant has been extended for three more months this year, 2021.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) said that people who missed out on the first application period will also get the extension.
It's confirmed that from May 2020 until January 2021, SA Social Security Agency (SASSA) processed about 9.6 million applications and the agency has paid about 6.5 million grants every month.
Know How Much Has Been Spent On The R350 Grant
Ever since the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant was introduced the state has spent a whopping R16 billion rand on the R350 Grant.
Beneficiaries who have been receiving this grant before must know that they can use a different method of payment when getting their R350 Grant. Recipients are not forced to only receive their at Post Office, said Sassa.
It's confirmed that SA Social Security Agency said that recipients who had not been paid by the end of January but had their grant applications approved will still receive payment on the channels of payments like using bank card or at South African Post Office and even using cellphone for money transfer, as required by the applicant.
SASSA Urges Recipients To Know The Following
- Beneficiaries who have been receiving the grant before should not reapply.
- Each and every application will face validation monthly to make sure that particular beneficiary qualifies and if you he or she does qualify that person will be approved.
