Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa - Zimbabweans in South Africa are reportedly being told by the Zimbabwean government to accept the country's decision not to extend their Zimbabwe Exemption Permits beyond 2022.

The Zimbabwean ambassador to South Africa, according to Bulawayo24 News, said in a statement Tuesday that they will assist in enforcing the approach. This comes as the ANC administration announced an open cabinet decision to end the special licenses that have allowed Zimbabweans to stay in South Africa legally. The permits, which were set to expire on December 31, 2021, have been extended for another year, and Zimbabweans are expected to leave South Africa or face eviction.

The statement states, "The Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe takes note of this decision by the Government of the Republic of South Africa, a close neighbor with whom Zimbabwe has excellent relations." "The Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe urges and encourages all of its citizens who are beneficiaries of the special dispensation to abide by this decision and participate in its implementation." The Embassy of Zimbabwe has begun discussions and conversations with key South African government officials in order to ensure the prompt dissemination of information and the seamless implementation of this decision, which will affect the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people. "The Embassy anticipates that this decision will be implemented with the least amount of inconvenience to the affected people' and their families' lives and livelihoods."
