The ANC was holding its National Executive Committee virtual meeting at the weekend and ever since the step aside issue, the NEC has had so many leaks that have happened while the meeting was in progress.
There are so many ANC members that are affected by this step aside and some of them are facing serious crimes that includes corruption.
Criminally charged members of the ANC were given 30 days to step aside voluntarily falling which they will be suspended by the party. So far only one person has step aside. Mike Mabuyakhulu is the only ANC members who stepped aside before being given a suspension letter. He saved himself some embarrassment of being kicked out of the NEC meeting.
According to some ANC officials, those affected by the step aside are the ones who are leaking the recording to create a specific narrative.
“All this noise, all the leaks and all these things that are happening now are actions of a people who are feeling that the pressure is on them now. They will go to jail and they are trying to cause disturbances. What I like about the ANC is that it has taken firm action which it hasn’t done in the past,” says Mavuso Msimang.
