Nelson Mandela was a pure Thembu not Xhosa

When talking about the first South African black president, one would think of Madiba the Xhosa from the eastern cape province. He was from the eastern Thembuland, the land ruled by king Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, remember that, the amaDlomo are ruling clan in the Thembuland not in the land of amaXhosa where the ruling clan is amaTshawe.

AbaThembu are the descendants of Ntande kaNtoyi kaDunakazi, these are the nation which belong to the abaThembu or the subgroups of abaThembu are amaJumba, amaHala, amaMfengu(hlubi), amaNdungwane, amaQwathi, amaQithi, amaGcina, amaTshatshu, amaMfanta and many other nations such as amaCube and amaZima.

AmaXhosa subgroups are amaNtinde, amaHleke, imiGwali, imiqhayi, amaGando(kwayi), amaGqunukhwebe and on the Rharhabe lands are amaGqika, amaDlambe, imiDutshane, imiDutshane yaselwandle, amaHlubi(Fingo) etc. The ruling clan is amaTshawe.

Nelson Mandela was never born in the land of late king Xolilizwe Sigcawu, he never was from amaTshawe clan. The confusion is caused most of the times by our language being called Xhosa or Zulu that is the reason why many people don't know how to differentiate between the Thembus and Xhosas, because if you are from the Eastern Cape, you are labeled as Xhosa and the language you speak will be called Xhosa.

The government and our traditional leaders must recognize our languages as well because nations like amaMpondo, amaMpondomise, amaXesibe, amaBhaca and amaBomvana are feeling the same pain of seeing their identity being ruined
