Politics has a part in building national societies since politicians are entrusted with the power to rule and provide for citizens on a daily basis. For instance, they might rate the service based on how well their demands are being met and how quickly their complaints are addressed. Observers have noted that politicians' primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of their constituents, but that money and corruption have turned politics into a sleazy game.
An other problem is that politicians often fail to treat one another with respect, even when they disagree. It's clear that South Africans resort to both verbal and physical violence to express themselves. To add insult to injury, some people take to social media to attack those who don't agree with them.
And this is what happened when Duduzile Zuma, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, called Thuli Madonsela ugly on Twitter. Duduzile Zuma, one of the former president's children, is well-known for remaining by him and showing steadfast support even since he was forced to leave as president due to corruption charges.
Even after her father was taken to prison, Duduzile Zuma remained steadfast in her support of him. And she's one of the rare kids who isn't scared to stand up for her dad on the internet, even when he's being attacked. Duduzile called Thuli Madonsela ugly when she tweeted criticism of Jacob Zuma.
