Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema has fired shots at the European Union over threats to withdraw funding from the Pan African Parliament.
Julius Malema said this after Zimbabwe's Fortune Charumbira who is aligned to the ruling party Zanu-PF was elected as the president of the Pan African Parliament. This is the first time the presidency of PAP is being held by someone from Southern Africa.
Over the years since the inception of Pan African Parliament, countries from East and Western Africa were rotating the leadership, and adamant about paving a way for Southern African countries to take the lead.
While some speculated that the election of Fortune Charumbira a Zanu-PF heavyweight to presidency will lead to the European Union to withdraw funding, the red beret leader, Julius Malema said Pan African Parliament is not about Zanu-PF neither is it about Zimbabwe, but is about Africa as a whole.
Malema said Charumbira has a lot of experience in governance and his association with Zanu-PF should not be an issue in the Pan African Parliament.
He said if the European Union which has over the years been dictating to Africans how they should lead their lives or how they should govern are not happy with their choice, then they might as well stop their funding.
The red beret leader did not mince his words, but said European Union must go to hell with their funding because Africa cannot continue to be dictated by former colonizers on how to govern.
"For EU I have no concern about EU, if they want to withdraw money because it wants to dictate to Africans what they can do, that one I don't have sympathy they can take their money. They can actually go to hell with their money," said Malema.
Africa is slowly showing the European Union the middle finger and refusing to be divided along the imperialists agenda which plants enmity among the Anglophone and Francophone countries to cause instability in Africa.
