"Corruption Was Never A Zuma Problem" Ex-ANC Cde Shilowa Hits Out

Former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa who is also former ANC member has hit out at the African National Congress stating that the party as a collective is the real problem.

Shilowa who was speaking at the South African Federation Trade Unions says corruption is rife, and it is being aided by the private sector, auditing firms and politicians as attested by the State Capture Corruption.

He went on to argue that the narrative that it was only Zuma who was aiding corruption is wrong as it is still happening under the new administration of president Cyril Ramaphosa.

"Corruption was never a Zuma problem because it still happens under Ramaphosa. It is an ANC problem," he said.

The United Democratic Movement comrade becomes the latest voice of those who are criticizing Ramaphosa's new dawn. There has been several concerns by the citizens that president Cyril Ramaphosa is becoming everything that Zuma was being accused of doing.

Some have went to greater heights citing that Jacob Zuma's so-called nine wasted years were better than Cyril Ramaphosa's new dawn which is characterized by loadshedding, price hikes and high unemployment rates.

As the ANC is gearing towards it's elective conference, Ramaphosa has a huge role to play to gain the confidence of those who are planning to vote ANC out of power in 2024.

Workers Unions have been on Ramaphosa's throat calling for him to increase their salaries as prices of things in the country continue to go up.

Shilowa expressed disappointment that leaders of union's that are supposed to speak with one voice on the plight of workers are busy fighting each other.

He spoke in light of what happened between Zwelinzima Vavi and Irvine Jim who were suspending each other prior to the conference.

Shilowa says the battle of Vavi and Irvin Jim resembles the reasons they said they should lift Cosatu.

"I was dismayed to see you suspending one another, especially in the build-up to this congress.

There is a debate out there that Trade Unions are useless and unions just want money, trade union leaders are just about themselves, they are captured by capital. You need to ask yourselves what contribution you are making," said Shilowa.
