Kwa-Zulu Natal Legislator's Speaker, Nontembeko Boyce announces that EDTEA MEC, Ravi Pillay has resigned and KZN ANC Provincial Treasurer, Ntuthuko Mahlaba has been sworn in as a member of the legislature.
Pillay was serving as the economic development, tourism and environmental affairs (EDTA) before tendering his resignation on Tuesday. He also resigned as a member of the provincial legislature.
Critics argue that this was bound to happen especially after Sihle Zikalala's departure, those who were his close allies felt that they will no longer be safe under the leadership of the Talibans led by Duma Mtolo.
The sitting of the KZN provincial legislature is underway in Mooi River outside Pietermaritzburg in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. ANC premier elect Nomusa Dube Ncube is expected to be elected premier. This follows the resignation of Sihle Zikalala last week.
Pillay has however wished the incoming leadership well, saying just like Sihle Zikalala, he resigned voluntarily and was not forced to do so. Some allege that there is now going to be a turnaround of things in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province after the Talibans took over.
There is also going to be a reshuffle in the Kwa-Zulu Natal provincial legislature, and some feel this is why some of the comrades who served under Sihle Zikalala had to resign on their own as they feared that they were going to be removed.
Former Newcastle mayor who is also ANC KZN treasurer doctor Ntuthuko Mahlaba was the one who was sworn in as a new member of the provincial government legislature, and some comrades feel he might be become new MEC for Health.
Kwa-Zulu Natal politics is unpredictable, and ANC comrades in the province know it too well that it's either they adjust or they will be pushed out just like what happened to Sihle Zikalala.
