ZEP was Issued Under Special Circumstances in 2010 and that Circumstances has not Changed - Mabhena.

The discussion surrounding the Zimbabwe exemption permit is still rising as the day goes by despite all effort made by the government to manage the situation around this growing point of discussion.

Ever since the permit expired on 31st December 2021, there has been effort by the beneficiaries to compel government to renew the document but many concern individuals in the country seem to be against the idea.

Groups like Operation dudula and Put South Africa First have been agitating for the kicking out of Zimbabwean beneficiaries of the permit as soon as possible while arguing that Zimbabweans in South Africa are occupying job positions meant for locals.

The latest report with respect to the permit is the recent move by Helen Suzman Foundation to file a legal proceedings against the South African government for cancelling the permit. The Non governmental organization claimed that most of the beneficiaries of the permit have built a live, settled in South African and it won't be right to send them back to suffering in their home country Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the Leader of Zimbabwean community in South Africa, Mr Mabhena Ngqabutho has applauded the effort of Helen Suzman Foundation in assisting Zimbabwean beneficiaries of ZEP in South Africa. He disclosed that there's never been a formal notification from the organization to Zimbabwean community in South Africa. He said that Zimbabwe exemption permit was issued to Zimbabweans under special circumstances in 2010 and those circumstances have not changed if not even worse.

Mr Mabhena further said that Zimbabweans in South Africa are currently desperate because they do not know what to do at the moment and that's why they welcome any individual or organization that would be of help to them in other to get this issue resolved.

Mr Mabhena made this known during an interview session with Newzroom Afrika.
