Sipho Hlomuka, who is the Kwa-Zulu Natal MEC for COGTA revealed that they were left shocked after revelations that its municipality spent R5-million on breakfast last week.
The MEC revealed that they wanted to gain an understanding of how such an amount would be spent on breakfast only. The MEC also agreed that there is no breakfast that can cost such an amount.
This is so disappointing from the ANC which claims that it is fighting against corruption. The President of South Africa Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa has been on record saying that his party is against corruption and all sorts of crimes.
The revelations that have come out are bad news for the Ramaphosa led ANC. The people he is leading continue making headlines for the wrong reasons. Some of the names that have helped paint a bad image for the ANC-led government even though they have not been convicted by the courts include former President Jacob Zuma, Dr Zweli Mkhize, Zandile Gumede, Mr. Ace Magashule, and many more.
The country can´t forget about the stadium that is alleged to have been built for R15-million. This is too much of the ruling party´s scandals. How will the party manage to make the people trust them after such scandals?
Public funds continue to be misused and it is not good for the social and economic development of the country. It is really concerning that despite these scandals, little has been done to help restrict similar acts from taking place.
Some officials from the ANC-led government have been implicated in various crimes, but their cases keep being postponed in the courts.
As a result of this, it is easy for other officials to follow suit and misuse taxpayers' hard-earned money. When will South Africa see these criminals being jailed and made to pay for their crimes?
