Are The Xenophobic Attacks Looming Due To The #BuyaMthetho Campaign ?

The #BuyaMthetho is a form in which political parties and South African citizens are engaged on in order to bring back the law in South Africa as the believe there is lawlessness in the Country. The movement is also to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in South Africa and those that are occupying some jobs that are should have been occupied by South Africans. One of the Political Party that is too vocal and on the ground is the Patriotic Party under the leadership of Gayton Mkhize, Gayton together with his people are on the ground searching and checking all the products that are being sold at the spaza shops are still in good conditions, and those that are not in good conditions they then take them off the shelves.

The Patriotic party are said to be on the ground throughout the country ensuring that all Spaza Shops are compliant and selling products that are good and healthy, products that will not endanger and cause any harm to the health of the consumers ,”All Patriotic Alliance forces throughout the country are visiting all shops owned by illegal foreigners, our loyalties are with newborn babies that must eat this rubbish filled with worms We didn’t just talk abt this for votes, we are fully #PutSouthAficansFirst”. The patriotic party are fighting to put South African first in everything that they are engaging on.

On an interview with Shahan Ramkissoon, Gaston was asked if such actions would not lead to any eruption of Xenophobic attacks, and he responded by stating that they are not instigating any Xenophobic attacks but only putting the lives of the people of South Africa first, they are just not happy with the way Spaza Shops are being ran, since the owners of the Spaza Shops would not let their kids consume those products,”Xenophobia against South Africans yes, we asked this shop owner if he would give his baby this medicine that expired two years ago and he confidently said “no”. We are only starting as the Patriotic Alliance, we will be visiting hospitals after our shop shops program”.

The #BuyaMthetho has then influenced even the Police service to engage themselves in searches and ensuring that the city is clean and safe, however questions and worry may rise as many may end up fearing for their lives since Illegal foreigners are not needed in South Africa. People fear that the Xenophobic attacks that were once instigated in South Africa may repeat and some may then use such as a catalyst to then start the attacks against the foreign nationals, one may fear that looting of Spaza shops may arise. Fears may rise amongst the street vendors since they are no longer allowed to sell in the streets. What is to happen to all the illegal immigrants remains the biggest question.
