
Every South African knows the difficulty of dealing with the department of home affairs. The queues are long and the service is extremely slow.
For many years the department of home affairs has been the same. Even in the fourth industrial revolution, home affairs still uses forms that people continue to fill wrongly and are returned back again and again.
The minister of Home Affairs Doctor Aaron Motswaledi wants the legislation changed and his department declared a security department. This he said will allow home affairs to open on Saturdays.
Doctor Motsoaledi said unions wants home affairs open on Saturday with same staff paid overtime. Unfortunately this is untenable according to the minister.
The bill has now been sent to cabinet for approval. Should the bill be approved, the department of home affairs will operate the same way as the police. This will definitely be good news for the clients, not so much for workers.
