ANC Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile throws a time bomb before next year Local Government elections

African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer-General Paul Mashatile has admitted that persuading the voters to vote for the party in the next year's local government elections will be very difficult.

According to SABC news, the party treasurer expressed this concern while speaking during a campaign trail in Clairwood, west of Durban, on Friday.

Mashatile who was on a by-elections campaign trail in KwaZulu Natal meeting with former members of the IFP emphasise that the high rate of unemployment as a result of a crippled economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic and corruption could result in voter apathy.

He says most definitely they are going to move to a very difficult campaign since many people have lost jobs as well as the big outcry of corruption.

Treasurer General who also interacts with residents of Gugulethu in Greytown, KwaZulu Natal said the party have to assure people that they are really addressing the issues and not during the elections.

He says presently the party have plans, and are addressing the problem of unemployment; we are addressing the problem of corruption but people obviously want to see action in other to retain their confidence with the rulling party.
