Lindiwe Sisulu's presence in Nelson Mandela Bay did not sitting down well with many people.
Sisulu was attending the party's youth league celebrations which had to be delayed by over two hours when she arrived.
People quickly made a complaint to Luthuli House as they did not understand why she was there.
“There was a complaint to headquarters about why is she there, who is she speaking for, who did she report to and who agreed to her being there.
“In order to avoid any negative feedback comrades, we must report these things to national.
“Fortunately, [ANC deputy secretary-general] Jessie [Duarte] allowed me to go despite my engagement not being on the ANC books for the election campaign,” Sisulu said.
Sisulu was joined by ANC regional conference preparatory committee convener Chumani Mfama, ANC provincial conference preparatory committee member Nobathembu Koko and former ANC Youth League president Lulu Johnson.
Sisulu said she would return to the metro ahead of the local government elections on November 1 and be based in the region in an effort to ensure an outright win for the ANC.
