OPINION - This will be the most important election since 1994.

The latest poll shows SOUTH africans are fed up with the ANC. At well under the 50% required to govern, a 2024 coalition government is most likely.

This will be the most important election since 1994.

In addition Post 2024, it's likely there will never be a party above 50%. Not ANC, not DA, not EFF, not ACTION SA not IFP. People are fed up with ANC, but it doesn't mean DA is the second option for them, neither do they see that way. A coalition government is likely to happen. DA's bashing of other oppositional parties won't work, neither EFF's populism. These parties must be alert that, all parties in 2024 will have to compromise. For no party will govern the country alone. Its high moral ground like the defending of immigrants and going to courts will not work.

In 2019, the DA focused on EFF and ANC ills as well as Patricia De Lille saga instead of sound policies that resonate with people from rural and township regions. Then Maimmane was blamed and Zille called herself a toilet cleaner to ditch him as if Maimmane was alone in DA policy conference, mobilization, canvassing and marketing. DA will never grow, if its language and policy is not attached to rural and township economy. Its urban bias framework, is unsustainable. Its defence of immigrants, the Phoenix massacre and highly skewed development in western Cape will make it lose votes. So it better be smart.
