Once upon a time, a footballer has turned to politics and seeks to give a new look to Umzansi.
Kenny Niemach a former Kaizer Chiefs star is a candidate for local government election for Boksburg in Gauteng. The player who used to score every ball he possessed, is a candidate forward 31 in Ekurhuleni. His party is the United Independent Movement whose leader is Neil De Beer. Neil was Nelson Mandela's advisor for transport during his term as president.
Niemach also played for Sundowns, he was last seen on DSTV Premiership in 2003 when he played for Kaizer Chiefs. He agreed that many people know him as a soccer star, the sport which he did for twenty years. Niemach said he has done many things besides being a candidate, he was a Radio broadcaster, a Television presenter, and also a businessman. If you see things not going accordingly, you have to stand up and make a change.
Niemach said he is doing just that, a change. He wants his children to have a secure future. He is reaching out to the people at his ward and telling them he is there for them. 8% of Municipalities failed to account for the expenditure, they failed to meet the demands of the people and it is about time we stood up and correct all this. Niemach is not the only soccer player who has turned to politics.
George Weah from Liberia and the only African player who won a Ballon D'or is now the president of Liberia. Kenny used to impress his fans on the soccer field while scoring tons of goals, now he wants to impress South Africans in their community needs. Many politicians want to be in power but do not work to bring the needed change. The Citizens have the right to seek change.
Crying and not looking for a change will not help the people. Change is like taking a holiday, while enjoying a holiday one smiles when looking at it. South Africa needs a change, South Africa was leading in terms of wealth but now it is like any other African country.
