He and Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula had their differences, and they were battling it out in court. It was reported few days back that Maphatsoe had a defamation lawsuit, in which he demanded R1.2 million from Mbalula for an alleged attack on him, on social media in October 2020.
He had said that Mbalula's tweet was false and damaging to his reputation. Mbalula had tweeted that Maphatsoe was a thug, a criminal and that he used certain security companies that the he had removed from the contracts for the protection of assets of the Passenger Rail Association of SA as his milking cow.
He had also tweeted that Maphatsoe was used to threatening people and had run away from Umkhonto weSizwe camp and lost his arm in doing so. He continued to say that he was a coward and hid behind ANC structure to camouflage his nefarious intentions of looting state entities.
Maphatsoe was laid to rest back in September 2021. His grave has been vandalized, and people are wondering who could have done it. Some are assuming it's to settle a political score. While some think there is nothing political into the situation. Some have also said it could have been vandalized by a cow, not even a human being. What do you think could have happened to the tombstone? It has also been reported that those who supplied the tombstone have blamed the weather. On the other hand, the family allegedly suspects that there is someone who did this deliberately. The question remains though, who would want to destroy a tombstone, and what score would the person be trying to settle?
