Mzansi expose a councillor candidate who was part of EFF in 2016 and ANC in 2021

A post on social media has caught a lot of attention as it showed a politician that has been in the books of Economic Freedom Fighters and then swiftly moved to the African National Congress. This was achieved in just five years, which has left a lot of people in disbelief. The pictures were shared by @emily_teffoME on Twitter as she wanted her followers to help her look at what she found. The post ended up attracting a lot of attention as it had over 270 comments, 570 retweets, and 1630 likes.

Within the first frame, it showed Manganye Samuel as part of the EFF, as he was running for the 2016 local municipal elections within DR JS Moroka Municipality Ward 15. It is believed that Manganye wasn’t successful in 2016, as he wanted to be the community’s councellor. Then five years later, Manganye is running for the same position, however, under ANC. South Africa is gearing up for the local government elections that are set to partake on the first of November. By the looks of things, Manganye felt that he had a better chance of winning the elections within Ward 15 if he joined the governing party. “He realized that black people will always vote ANC… to many voting ANC is culture… so why not change and join them… Enjoy the benefits… Phela you don’t have to deliver to your promise when your ANC member,” said @madifashai on Twitter.

Over the years, it's visible that politics has become about competition and not service delivery. Many politicians are worried about their stomachs and they don’t keep up with all manifestos that they share with communities when they want their votes. Also, many politicians don’t take their work seriously as they chop and change their political parties. “The reason why we are where we are is because people see political parties as sports teams while we should see them as employees. If they don’t perform we replace them not follow them even when they mess up,” said @AtmJansen on Twitter.
