Tshwane ambulance service comes to a halt

If you are faced with medical emergency in Tshwane - the municipal ambulance services will not be around to rush you to hospital. The municipality says it had to stop these services on Friday. eNCA's reporter Barry Baitman has more.

City management is accusing Government of renaging on an agreement to keep the service going. But Gauteng says service delivery will not be affected, because it provides this service to this city.

Dosens of ambulances equipt to save lives and the trained emergency personnel who rush to emergencies across the countries biggest metro are standing idle.

Last year the government denied the Tshwane ambulance service an operating liscence, stating the Provincial is Arion of such services.

But in July at the height of the Covid-19 wave,. An agreement was set that they would continue to operate. The city's mayor said that in January at a provincial comand meeting it was said that the operations should continue for another twelve months.
