Check out who Jacob Zuma is laying charges against

Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma (Zulu: [geɮʱejiɬeˈkisa ˈzʱuma]; born 12 April 1942) is a South African politician who was the fourth president of South Africa from 2009 to 2018.[5][6][7] He is also referred to by his initials JZ and his clan name Msholozi.

Zuma served as South Africa's Deputy President from 1999 to 2005, but was fired by President Thabo Mbeki in 2005 when Zuma's finance adviser, Schabir Shaik, was found guilty of bribery. After beating Mbeki at the ANC conference in Polokwane, Zuma was elected President of the African National Congress (ANC) on December 18, 2007. Mbeki announced his retirement on September 20, 2008, after being recalled by the ANC's National Executive Committee.

Former President Jacob Zuma has followed through on his promise to arrest senior state prosecutor Billy Downer with criminal charges for illegally leaking medical documents.

Zuma arrived to Pietermaritzburg's Loop Street Police Station on Thursday afternoon, accompanied by his daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, to launch the case.

The foundation tweeted on Wednesday that Downer's alleged behavior violated parts of the National Prosecuting Authority Act.

The charges stem from court proceedings on September 22, which Zuma was unable to attend due to illness. The state, on the other hand, claimed that doctors from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) determined that Zuma was fit to stand trial.

Zuma's special request for Downer's removal as lead prosecutor in his trial relating to accusations of corruption, racketeering, and money laundering in connection with a multibillion-rand arms transaction was the subject of the hearing.

The NPA was dubbed "vultures" by the former president's legal team for allegedly sending in doctors recommended by the state to check Zuma before his medical specialists could do so.

Zuma's lawyer, Dali Mpofu, also claimed that Downer had leaked Zuma's medical report to a journalist, and that this was enough to have him removed from office.
