ANC Bigwig Refuses To Attend NEC Meeting In Person

Former finance minister, and ANC NEC member, Tito Mboweni has revealed that he will not be attending the National Executive Committee meeting in person.

Mboweni without revealing why he decided to take that decision, strongly made his position known that he will not avail himself in the next ANC NEC meeting.

"I refuse to go to large gatherings. I won’t go to any in-person meeting of the ANC NEC. I am not going there. I will attend virtually. In-Person? Nope," said Mboweni.

The ANC heavyweight however faced backlash after his utterances, with some critics saying he is seeking attention and was not supposed to reveal this to the public if he didn't want to go to the ANC NEC meeting.

With the recent ANC heavyweight death, Mpho Moerane, some conspiracy theorists are arguing that Mboweni is simply hiding behind the COVID-19 issue, but he might be scared to travel in fear of what is happening.

"You strongly suggesting something is going down there or am I misreading your tweet? It’s definitely not COVID-19 related cause you have been tweeting pictures and hugging strangers at restaurants so I can only assume one thing you're scared after Mpho Moerane's death," some said.

"We're not even surprised. The ANC has been leading this country virtually anyways," some said.

ANC comrades have been on each other's throat for some time now due to factionalism, and some of them don't really see eye to eye.

This could be another reason why Tito Mboweni prefers to attend ANC NEC meetings virtually to avoid all the drama that comes with physical ANC meetings.

ANC NEC has also been accused of contradicting with REC. For instance, NEC takes a stance then the REC when they meet, they will also take a stance that is against what NEC would have agreed on.
