Suspended ANC bigwig Declares Cyril's 'Incoming' Replacement

The ANC's heated political debate has everything to do with the national conference that everyone is looking forward to in December. And unlike in the past, when the president didn't have to do much to get re-elected, President Cyril Ramaphosa could have to do a lot more to keep his job.

There have been a lot of people who have been mentioned as possible candidates for Ramaphosa's job.

Dr. Zwelini Mkhize, Lindiwe Sisulu, and Ace Magashule, who was suspended as secretary-general, are all likely to put their names in the hat. Those leaders are obviously very different from the president, at least in terms of their ideas, so they can't stand another 5 years of him being in charge.

But there's another name that's been added to the mix. This is about David Mabuza, who is the vice president. He has been strangely uninterested in all the talk about the conference.

People have been saying that the CR22 brigade was planning to get rid of Mabuza after his faction lost the most recent Mpumalanga provincial election. After Mandla Ndlovu was chosen as the new chairperson, it seemed like his support in the province had dropped by a lot.

Ngrayi Ngwenya, Mabuza's close friend and the former chair of the Ehlanzeni region who is now suspended, said that Mabuza will become the most powerful person at Luthuli house in December, rain or shine.

"DD Mabuza will be the president of the country, whether they like it or not. You should know that the ANC is kicking me out to stop Mabuza from running for president "Nkomazi branches will nominate Mabuza as president. Ngwenya said this at a meeting of the Block B Inkomazi community.

The ANC put a temporary hold on Ngwenya's membership because he was involved in a fight at the Nkomazi branch meeting where some members were beaten to a pulp. And he thinks that he was suspended so that he wouldn't be able to vote for Mabuza at the 55th national elective conference.

"You should know that the ANC is kicking me out to stop Mabuza from running for president. Nkomazi branches will nominate Mabuza as president, "he added.

You could say that Ngwenya's statement seems unlikely given that Mabuza has lost a lot of support, both within the CR22 faction and the RET brigade, which he ironically betrayed at the 2017 Nasrec conference.

Mabuza is known as "The Cat," and he has shown over the years that he is a smart politician. It would be a mistake for his opponents to write him off just yet.

What do you think about what Ngwenya said?
