MOPANI EXECUTIVE MAYOR LAUNCHES CORONAVIRUS MASS SCREENING CAMPAIGN
Mopani District Municipality Executive Mayor Councillor Pule Shayi today launched the district household mass screening campaign at Motupa village.
The launch comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that household screening must be done to assist in fighting Covid-19.
According to Doctor Mongwe, the Mopani District Executive Manager for Department of Health, the screening will be done by health workers with the help of Home-based care workers deployed in various communities.
The screening will be done starting from today “Each health care worker is expected to screen at least 10 families a day”. Meaning about 19100 people will be screened per day.
Greater Tzaneen Municipality Mayor Councilor Maripe Mangena applauded the health care workers for the good work that they are doing in "our communities" in frighting the virus.
A mobile screening mini bus with dedicated health care workers was unveiled . The mini-bus will be used to screening and testing.
Mayor Maripe Mangena visited Masedi family where 4 people were screened.
Maruleng Municipality Mayor Cllr Happy Thobejane, Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Cllr Basani Shibambu , Mopani District Speaker Cllr Wireless Sedibeng, MMC Mikateko Shimange , Cllr Moore Baloyi, Cllr Lettie Hlangwane and Cllr Martha Makwala were among the attendees of the event.
