Money for VIP protection increases

Minister Bheki Cele is denting the politicians safety is being priorotised, adding that spending on VIP protection is but a drop in the ocean.

The police ministry has denied that it is priorotising the safety of politicians over that of the general public.

Taking a look at the numbers paints a rather different picture, hundreds of thousands are spent each year on individual elected leaders.

The need to tackle corruption has also come second to providing VIP protection to government leaders.

This is all revealed in the police budget. Minister Bheki Cele has expressed shock at the level of trust in the police but he had denied that safety of politicians are being priorotised.
