On Monday, Julius Malema appeared clearly upset when he announced that a fourth suspect had been apprehended in the murder of Hillary Gardee. However, it is not clear whether Malema's claim that the EFF has recruited private detectives to help bring down three more people is accurate.
Malema lied about the arrest of a fourth person in connection with the murder of Hillary Gardee, but it turns out that he did so on his own accord. To journalists, the CIC announced that the party's private detectives had tracked down a man in eMalahleni to whom a FNB bank account was connected. Malema claimed that the man wanted to deposit R500,000 into Gardee's account before he killed her, implying that she had been kidnapped and held as ransom for the money.
Brig Selvy Mohlala, the Police Spokesperson for Mpumalanga, claims that Malema's information is inaccurate. As of now, no one has been taken into custody." ""We have three people in custody right now," Mohlala stated. "The information that a person has been apprehended at Witbank [eMalahleni] is unknown to the officer conducting the investigation. Mohlala remarked, "If somebody is detained, we will inform the nation."
Most of us were puzzled as to why the police hadn't announced the arrest of a fourth suspect before Malema made the announcement. If Malema is desperate to bring all the suspects to justice, or he knows who else the police should be looking for, it appears to be the case. When a leader like him lies unprovoked, how can he do it? Malema risks dividing his party if he does not exercise caution in his remarks about this case. As things stand, a senior EFF member has reportedly been implicated in the case. Witness Philemon Lukhele claimed that police tortured him to accuse a senior member of the gang, reports indicate. On its own, this is drawing attention. Malema's behavior is stoking the idea that he is a terrorist.
CIC also stated that Hillary's death was linked to rituals because of the wounds she sustained in the process of her death. Shouldn't we hold off on making any pronouncements until the Police investigations are complete? Godrich Gardee's father, Godrich, is raising questions on his own, but Malema is making a lot of noise about this matter.
