Makhadzi whose carrier has been blooming got an invite from the South African president Cyril Ramaphosa who is also the leader of the ANC. She decided to wear an outfit with the ANC colours in order to honour the president. On a normal occasion this would have been considered as a good gesture.
However with the current economical and political situation in South Africa combined with the elections coming up the people were not happy with what Makhadzi did. They started taking out their frustration for the government on her saying that she was in support of a government that was corrupt and did not care about the people.
Some people were even highlighting that they would stop supporting Makhadzi simply because she had worn the ANC colours. However a lot of her loyal fans came to her defence. They highlighted that even though Makhadzi was a public figure she was still a human being and a citizen of South Africa who had every right to support who she wanted. A person should be free to support any political [party they want.
Loyal fans to Makhadzi indicated that they would not be stopping the support they had for her. Which ever political party she chose to support have nothing to do with her career. Makhadzi is a good musician and that is why people loved her in the first place.
Some influencers also called out people for being hypocrites. A video of Makhadzi dancing with opposition leader Julius Malema went viral yet no one criticized it so they should remain silent seeing her wearing ANC colours because she was just honouring an invite.
