Parade protest

ANC voted out in many municipalities

The people of KwaMadlala, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, who used to protest against water and block the N2 and R102 highways, have voted out of power for the ANC.

Unconfirmed figures from the IEC show that the ward 15 community voted for the IFP to oust a former ANC councilor who had been in power for 15 years.

The new councilor will be Sfundo Ngwane, who is also the Ugu district chairperson.

Today members of the community lined the dusty streets singing, celebrating their success with the local Prince.

The community says it has long been asking the ANC to build them subsidized housing, provide them with water and electricity and create jobs so that it can benefit the youth closer to home but they are still reluctant.

He said development was a choice now and it was time to change the leadership of the area so that progress could be made.

It was alleged that the truck was delivered water once a week on Wednesday, which was placed in Jojo's tanks near the road. There is no running water in the yard.

Ngwane allegedly snatched a hat from a woman and gave her water tanks.

Ngwane said in Mzumbe Municipality they had taken six wards in the ANC and one in Muziwabantu Municipality in Harding, which was an indication that people wanted change.
